Environmental Policy Statement
SIM Building Group are committed to conducting their business in a manner which is both professional and ethical whilst at all times paying attention to their environmental responsibilities:
These environmental responsibilities will be addressed by implementing the following:
1.
Strict compliance with all relevant legal requirements, codes of practice and regulations;
2. Organise our operations in order to minimise pollution and disturbance to our neighbours and general public;
3. Reduce where practicable, the need for any unnecessary travel and for the transportation of stores and equipment in the most efficient manner possible;
4. Seek to minimise waste and train and encourage staff to avoid any wasteful printing or use of materials;
5. Careful selection in the choice of equipment, materials and working methods to make most efficient use of stores and resources;
6. Ensure that effective measures are taken to control the risk of any emissions or pollution to land, air and water from occurring during our course of work;
7. Encourage energy savings throughout the company by ensuring that all power appliances, lights and equipment is switched off when not in use and radiators are switched off in empty rooms or kept down low in winter if risk of freezing;
8. Re-use of parts and components where possible and encourage re-use of stationary items such as files, folders, scrap paper for notes or memos, re-use printer/fax cartridges by using refilling company and use other office stationary until unserviceable;
9. Order stationery and office materials in bulk where possible in order to avoid unnecessary deliveries , therefore, reducing direct cost and fuel usage emissions;
10. All bulk waste paper disposals will be sent to recycling unit;
11. Encourage customers to specify materials and equipment which have the least environmental effect during manufacture, when in service, and which can be recycled at the end of its life;
12. Ensure disposal of redundant materials and equipment through approved disposal contractors with waste disposal notes retained for all transactions;
14. General waste to be disposed of using segregated skips provided under contract arrangements. Larger skips to be used to reduce vehicle movements and ensure skips are full prior to exchange.
