We were appointed by The Grand Lodge of Scotland to undertake slate & stone roof repairs on their Marcus Humphrey House property, that is located in Bridge of Weir.
About The Property
Marcus Humphrey House is a care home that has 16 single rooms and 1 couple/companion room, all with en-suite facilities.
As well as this, there is also the usual array of communal rooms and kitchen & dining facilities that you’d expect to find in a modern-day care home environment.
The roof was in need of repair in order to ensure that it remained watertight and continued to provide shelter for the residents and staff working in the home.
The Client Brief
After undergoing a traditional tendering exercise we were appointed as Principal Contractor for the works that were to be undertaken. The works involved in this project were extensive, but manageable within the time frame and the budget which the client had allowed for.
There was a need for the erection of scaffolding, slating & stone work to the chimneys on the property and joinery work and decoration to the eaves timbers and gutters
Our Expertise
We have undertaken numerous jobs of this nature over many years whilst working in the construction sector.
When undertaking a project on behalf of a client of this nature, we bring together a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience, both in relation to managing the day-to-day work that is required for the project, as well ensuring that all the work we undertake on behalf of a client is completed to a high standard.
This particular job involved us using our own specialist and highly skilled staff, along with our excellent team of sub-contractors, that have all been personally vetted by us, ensuring that any work they undertake on our behalf is completed to the same high standards that we have come to expect from our own employees.
We have worked very hard over the years and are rightly very proud of the reputation we have built as a skilled, conscientious and knowledgeable contractor that always puts the needs of our clients first.
A Strategic & Considered Approach To Working With Our Client
We pride ourselves in really getting to know our client and what they do.
We always try where possible to accommodate our clients wishes, as we believe this is what sets us apart from the competition…going that extra mile!
In the case of the roof repairs on the Marcus Humphrey House property, we were acutely aware that the care home was home to many elderly residents, who in some cases were nearing the end of their life and as such, we were very mindful to try and keep disruption to their day-to-day life to a minimum.
We maintained water tightness of the building all throughout the project and were also careful to minimise noise, dust levels and all other aspects of the project which would cause unnecessary disruption to the residents.
In the occasion where large levels of noise were unavoidable, we tried our best to liaise with the care home manager to inform them in advance of the aspects of the job that would cause disruption to the residents.
We are pleased to say that due to the care and attention we put into every project we work on, as well as our ongoing efforts to communicate clearly with our clients, we were able to keep disruption to the residents to a minimum and the works relating to this project were completed on-time, within budget and without incident.
